Hi it would be great to hear from other owners, the quirks and foibles of these breeds. My pup is a mix up of all of these breeds. It has been sugested that Minnie might even have wire haired pointing griffen and old english sheep dog in there somewhwere Hey if you have a similar mixed up mutt I would love to know what your dog is like to ^__^

I trained a Springer a few years ago for friends of the family. He was very high strung, and very confident in himself. Oddly enough, when he took naps, it took earthquakes to wake him up! All of the Springers I've met, even in their senior years, have had a very healthy energy level, which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all.

I've only met Bearded Collies, but barely interacted with any of them. The ones I met were very nice dogs though. I used to know a lady who had a Beardie, and she was the bees knees for her, and I've never heard negative stories about them (though I'm sure someone out there has a few).

As far as terriers, I've owned and handled quite a few. People speak of 'terrier tenacity' but in all, it's not a good generalization for all of the terriers. They can be tenacious in their own little ways though, but I've never met a terrier I didn't like. :)

My first dog was a Beardie, the second was a terrier/husky mix and my current dog is a Beardie mix, so I've got everything but the spaniel covered. The Beardies have been classic herders; they follow people everywhere, often circling around to make sure nobody's fallen behind; they also run like scalded bunnies and think a little disobedience never hurt. Sweet-natured dogs, with a big sense of humor, a lot of energy and a joyfulness I've never seen in another breed. They're just happy dogs. The 'bounce' really does show clearly. Very emotional, expressive dogs, with an enormous generosity of spirit.

My terrier, on the other hand, was more reserved. Very dry sense of humor, and a tendency to shrug and walk away from a situation. She was extremely trainable; probably the best-behaved dog I've owned, but she demanded a level of give-and-take. She seemed to study the world, and if you wanted to be part of her sphere, you had to study her, see what she liked.

I am, of course, guessing about the breeds of my two mixes. If there's an afterlife, my first question is likely to be regarding the exact parentage of my shelter mutts :)

Oh boy, make sure you exercise that puppy! lol, I know you know, but the breeds you described are very highstrung, and entergetic. So, your puppy will keep you on your feet! My dog is 5 years, and still acts like a puppy! -shrugs- here is a good site to get some more info on your breeds. :)

www.dogbreedinfo.com Its very good. :) you may have to type it into the adress bar, I don't know if it will work or not. but, good luck! Your puppy sounds very cute! ;)

Hey thanks everyone. I have really enjoyed hearing about your dogs. Yes keeping Minnie exercised is a must LOL LOL. Sometimes I think two hours of a walk is just not enough LOL. There is definitely nothing that ever takes the spring out of her step, she would just keep going and going and going if I let her. She then takes 20 mins to calm down after a walk, sleeps for about an hour and is then bouncing everywhere throwing toys about all over again! She does like finding things around the house and stuff like that which keeps her happy though and she plays with a football in the garden and bounces up and down trying to play with our chickens and rabbit. She cant actually get at them but she loves watching them and sniffing and going nose to nose with Honey the rabbit. She is out there like a shot protecting them from cats tee hee. She does have a very sweet nature and is very cuddly when she is being calm. I often find her snuggled up with my son on the settee when he comes in from work and is having a snooze. I shall now go and check out that website ^__^
