My brother has been thinking about buying a puppy for sometime. He is an avid hunter and decided to get a Lab. My brother is a good dog owner and has a wife and kids who spend a lot of time with their current dog (9 year old lab/collie mix)

My question, do any of you have recommendations for a well rounded breeder of Labs with an English look and temperament. The breeder needs to breed very very healthy dogs. He is more worried about temperament than cosmetic looks. He also wants a dog from good working/hunting stock. OFA Hips and Elbows and CERF are a must.

Thanks for any help. Close to Wisconsin is a bonus but he is willing to travel far for the right breeder.

I don't know if these are English labs, but this breeder seems very informed and ethical:

However, it looks like she isn't breeding very much these days . . .

Have him go though a Lab Breed Club .....safest way as they stay away from bad breeders. Anyone can make a glorious sounding web site .

^^^ I agree, but be careful about the breed club in this case. A breed club that promotes mainly showing in conformation is going to refer people to show breeders, not ones that breed hunting dogs.
