is it to cold for him?

well we have 3 dogs(big dogs)
we have a newfoundland , a boxer ,and a golden
well i have been noticeing that the baxer has been outside and if he is to long outside he will lift his back leg up and act like it is stuck?:(
is it to cold or is he trying to pull one over me?

lol I never rules out the idea that a dog is trying to pull one over on me. But, boxers don't have much of a coat as you know and he might get cold. Some dogs alternate holding one foot off the ground while warming the other up. So, he might be cold. How does he look otherwise?

Boxers are prone to arthritis and HD and are just not meant to withstand extremes of temperature. My boxer is showing a real creak now and where I live never even gets that cold. I seriously doubt that your boy lifting and freezing his leg like that is him taking the mickey.

Skye is going to the vet tomorrow to see if there is anything else I can give her to ease her hip. I suggest you do the same with your boy. By the way, if that is him in your av, he is absolutely stunning. I'd love to see more pics.

Most dogs ask to come back in if they're cold . I wouldn't worry ( unless they're penned or tied )

well he is like that now when he is out side like i was just out there for 7 min maybe less and he started that
but last winter he never did that. so i think it is the really harsh winter

My Max loves the cold weather but we have been having wind chills below zero this year, and he doesn't stay out long at all. The weather this year is hard on the dogs as well as the humans.

My Huskies do this every now and then and it certainly isnt because they are cold LOL The reason with them is one of two things:

1: A small chunk of ice has somehow worked its way through the fur between the pads of their feet and reached the skin giving them a slight chill (imagine if you got ice between your toes when you weren''t expecting it). They pick their foot up until it melts then continue on their way.

2: This one has never happened with my two but I''ve seen it with other Huskies especially the woolies. Snow and ice has balled up so bad that it is painful and/or awkward to put their foot down. In that case it is best to get the ball out yourself and spray a little bit of Pam cooking spray on their feet which will stop the balling (snow cant stick to oil).
