Does anyone have any of these things?

We had a lady call today for a grooming appointment and told us that her dog was a "morki"..

Now I assume that it is a Maltese/Yorki.. but why call it a Morki.. just tell us its a Maltese/Yorki mix.. but no no.. obviouly its a purebred Morkie..

Sorry.. but that sort of thing really bothers me..

Dont just use that silly made up name for it.. tell us WHAT it is so it can be groomed properly.. Arg..

Morkie= yorkie x maltese.

Morkie poo= maltese/yorkie x toy poodle

Probably one of those, they're pretty big designer dogs

^^^ I hate the "cutesy designer dog" names =/ They are enough to make me want to puke!

BTW, my Spanish partner had a morki... he would always talk about how great it was, and how it came from Petland :rolleyes:

Yup I figured it was a Maltese/Yorki..

I have yet to see one at work come through, but I'm sure their coats would be a mess to groom..

LMAo Petland.. sweet deal!!!

Petland is the perfect place to buy a dog... convenient, and a great selection :rolleyes:

I mean, who really cares about breed standards anyway?!

*huge sigh* Another one.. this is the first time I've heard of one of those.
I truly despise those names.

My favorite DD name of all time is the "dorkie". Perfectly describes the type of person who would shell out the money for it at Petland.

YES, YES, Y-E-S!

That one is my favorite too. You just KNOW there are people running around out there with their Dachsund/Yorkie crosses, wondering WHY people are laughing when they proudly proclaim they own "purebred" Dorkies.

Honestly, it's the BUYERS (like you said, Zoom) that are purebred Dorkies.

Oh speaking of petstores...I can't remember if it's Petland or Land of Paws (run by a vet, no less :mad: ) but someone around here is selling Shibas. I'm just waiting for the influx to shelters here in about 6 months, since it's only been a recent addition to the "stock".

Wouldn't their coats be similar? I can't imagine the reason for the cross - it's not for allergy purposes!

Siiiigh. Shibas have been relatively lucky to stay out of most petstore's radars...but I doubt that luck will hold out much longer. The puppies are cute on a level bordering on obscene, and it's a relatively small breed, so they look "puppyish" for a longer time period- meaning they retain "sellability" for a lot longer than larger breeds.

Unfortunately uninformed buyers will get the shock of their LIVES when they find out these dogs are the ANTITHESIS of what they were likely sold as (cute friendly lap dogs). And that's when they'll hit the shelters.

I really wish the uninformed had no access to dogs.

Colliewog;

Maltese coats tangle extremely easily, and Yorkis coats get very greasy easily.. mixing the two is asking for a horrible coat IMO for a "pet".

I really dont understand the mix myself.. it has absolutely NO purpose..

I've run into one already, a freaking adorable black and tan absolute SPAZ of a puppy. The dog had to eat crack for breakfast...she never. Stopped. Moving. Unless it was collapsing where she stood for a power nap and then up and at 'em again. Luckily she had an octane powered toy fox terrier to play with. But her mom had no freaking clue what she was getting herself into. I asked her once and her reply was something along the lines of "it was just the cutest thing in the whole store! And she gave me a hug...I had to buy her!" At which point I smiled and said "she sure is cute!" and walked away.

That dog ought to be nearing a year by now...maybe 10 months.

Is there such a thing as a dorkie-poo? I hope not.

Sadly enough I've seen those. Some large breed designer dog mixed with a goldendoodle. :rolleyes:
They combined the names, and since it was in a flurry of all kinds of other designer dogs I forgot the name.
Soon it'll be Folla-poos. (my new designer dog of collie and fila mixed with poodle). Take the defense and guard capabilities of the fila and the size of the collie and mix it with the poodle because it's "hypoallergenic." :rolleyes:

why a morkie? because someone thought, well there mixing everything else, i got a yorkie and a maltese handy, i too can make $3000 per puppy. *grolws* i hate "desighner breeds"
