I dont get it?If you like pits why are you posting all of these negative stories? Post some positive ones instead.

There are plenty of positive pit stories out there.

it just makes me mad. that our state newspaper can't find anything better to put on the front page.

I feel bad for the dogs, of course. Why not? They were brought up the way they were. It is not their fault.

I feel even worse for the rest who have to suffer at the hands of neglegent owners, and for those who are responsible owners with good dogs of their breed.

Of course we should feel bad for everyone involved in this kind of tragedy, man and dog.

The problem is that when reading these stories we all bring so much emotional baggage with us, from one direction or another, that it is difficult to learn from them rather than just fan the flames.

I think that if you read a story about 2 dogs of any breed savagely assaulting a man and your primary reaction is "poor little puppies, I just feel sorry for the dogs" then you have issues.

I also think that violent savage assaults on humans or animals ARE appropriate items for our newspapers.

We know NOTHING about the circumstances. Chinchow, you are a real authority on dogs and as as a newby I love your posts. However, right out of the shoot you are assuming that the problem is negligent owners.

The APBT website says that a dog's temperament is 80% genetic. That number may be high, but there is at least a good chance that these were just bad dogs....Not bad in the morale sense, we can't blame the dog, but dogs that were irresponsibly bred (often by those who saw human aggression as a positive thing. The owner of these dogs may have had no idea who he had guarding his yard.

All pits are not killers, neither can we pretend that animals this powerful, who in today's sick society are often bred for the wrong reasons, and can be picked up in any urban area for $100 are indistinguishable from Pugs.

Just one dog lovers view.

Genetics do not just rear their heads up at random times, especially so late in life. If these dogs were genetically 'bad' then the owners should have seen that.
Human aggression is not hard to see.

Regardless that there is little information in this article, the fact that Pit Bulls are so commonly left untrained, or trained badly by owners who sincerely do not care stands firm. I have no problem coming to the conclusion of the owners being irresponsible, it's what I have seen from well more than half of the dog bite cases I have seen. Some owners, though few, actually admit it being their fault.
Hopefully if in fact these owners are at fault, which is most likely the case, they will have their animal owning rights stripped completely.

Here's a good story within this bad one. Hopefully steer the conflict away!

Today, my oldest Chow (ChinChin) met his first Staffordshire Bull Terrier! They got along great. The little Staffie jumped about nine feet in the air, I swear, LOL. He was extremely agile. And we have a date planned with him in a few days as well! :D

Who would've thought, two breeds that are supposedly epically known for aggression, together at last. Hehe.
