For your information .....

Official statement from the FCI:

"Due to the continuous lack of communication and response from the Canadian Kennel Club, due to the fact that the CKC does not recognize the pedigrees from many of our members and contract partners and due to the lack of common orientation between the two organizations, the Canadian Kennel Club judges will no longer be allowed to officiate at FCI international CACIB shows as from January 1st 2007.

In addition, pedigrees issued by the CKC as from January 1st 2007 will no longer be recognized by the FCI.

Finally, the title of CKC Champion is no longer accepted for the entry in Champion Class at FCI International CACIB shows as from January 1st 2007."

AKC isnt on everyone's good list right now. They have tried to do a couple things that are pretty unethical (like training Pet Land employees on how to register dogs with the AKC). I am sure you know but Pet Land is a chain of pet stores who sell puppy mill puppies. Lots of people/breed clubs got upset so AKC backed out..

Quite frankly, I am not impressed with the AKC. I have no clue why they would think that supporting a store who sells puppy mill puppies is okay. AKC is supposed to be about quality breeders working to improve the breed.

I am going to check out that website you posted!

"The Canadian Kennel Club - Banned from the F.C.I. !!!
For those not familiar with the organization, The Fédération Cynologique Internationale is the World Canine Organization. It includes 82 members and contract partners (one member per country) that each issue their own pedigrees and train their own judges. The FCI makes sure that the pedigrees and judges are mutually recognized by all the FCI members.

The CKC being banned from the FCI has huge repercussions on all breeders, exhibitors and competitors.

This is the official publication of the ban as published on the F.C.I. website:

CIRCULAR 25/2006 22.11.2006

Canadian Kennel Club pedigrees and judges

On the occasion of its meeting in Rome on October 25th and 26th, 2006, the FCI General Committee made the following decision:

Due to the continuous lack of communication and response from the Canadian Kennel Club, due to the fact that the CKC does not recognize the pedigrees from many of our members and contract partners and due to the lack of common orientation between the two organizations, the Canadian Kennel Club judges will no longer be allowed to officiate at FCI international CACIB shows as from January 1st 2007.

In addition, pedigrees issued by the CKC as from January 1st 2007 will no longer be recognized by the FCI.

Finally, the title of CKC Champion is no longer accepted for the entry in Champion Class at FCI International CACIB shows as from January 1st 2007.

We thank the member organizations and contract partners to inform URGENTLY all their shows organizers. In case this decision would not be observed, the organizers would be sanctioned."
