I have a long haired, miniature dachshund that's almost 5 years old. We recently bought a boxer puppy, and Dexter, the doxie, will NOT leave him alone. We talked for a long time about needing to get him neutered, so I took him yesterday morning to get it done. Today he's back "at it"! He's about to drive Dallas, the boxer, crazy (and us too)!! Why do dogs do this even after they're fixed??? And will it ever end???
LOL. Well, first of all it takes awhile for the hormones to dissipitate in their bodies. I think at least a month! I'm not positive about the length of time though.
The other way they do this is dominance. It's their way of showing that they are the dominant dog and the boss. That is something you can't eliminate but if you use the sit or down command whenever he does it and praise him for listening he should get the idea.
Or teach him OFF.
Yes, Saje, I believe you're right, in that it takes a month for those hormones to subside.
