About 3 weeks ago I got a new yorkie puppy. I have been searching online for how often to bathe the yorkie and am getting extremely different times on how often I should bathe her..

Yorkie owners what do you do??

There are truly a lot of answers to that. My advice honestly is when they stink or about every 2 weeks. Some bathe more often but it will dry out their skin and a lot of yorkies are prone to dry skin anyway. (mine is) Use a gently shampoo and conditioner. If you are going to become ridiculous about your yorkie like the rest of us you can use Chris Christenson. Most swear by it. You'll have to experiement with ones that work best on her coat. (if you don't know this--some have silky coats and some have cotten coats-and cotten tend to mat when they get enough to mat.)

Their eyes tend to water so I use a warm washcloth to clean her face.

Hope this help and please enjoy that baby!!

Thank you for the response, Chanin!

I have noticed her skin is dry so I will be sure not to bath her as often :)

I bathe weekly. It helps cut down on allergens for me and is part of my grooming routine. I use Earthbath shampoo in Mango Tango and find it works very well for me, it's really moisturizing and the scent lasts the full week. For dry skin, you can also add in a conditioner or use a shampoo w/oatmeal!

I use DermCaps from the vet--can get through Fosters and Smith too. It helps with the dryness.

Thanks for the reply's!

Bella has an appointment to get groomed on Wednesday. It is very hard to brush her as she squirms and is getting some matting. Her hair is also getting pretty long so it's about time!

I will definatly take your suggestions on the shampoo!
