Dog attack on golf course
A MAN was bitten on the backside by two dogs as he attempted to stop them attacking his miniature greyhounds on Woodford Golf Course last week.
Bernard Bloom was exercising his two Italian greyhounds during their regular early morning walk on a part of the course near Mornington Road, Woodford Green on Thursday, December 28 when the attack happened.
The two boxer dogs ran up to Mr Bloom's Italian greyhounds at around 9.15am. Mr Bloom, of High Road, Chigwell, said: "The two boxers came running up and they were throwing my dogs all over the place.
"I kicked one of the dogs off but it went for me and I swore."
Mr Bloom then asked the owner of the boxers to keep his dogs under control. However, he says he was amazed at the owner's response. He said: "The owner came over to me and told me to watch my language. I couldn't believe it.
"Then his dogs went for me again and bit me on the backside, one going right through the clothes and piercing the skin.
"I have had dogs around me all my life and I truly believe that a dog's character is formed by its owner. Some people shouldn't be allowed to keep dogs."
The attack came in the same week as a pit bull terrier-type dog mauled and killed a five-year-old girl on Merseyside.
And a further dog attack also took place in Seven Kings, Redbridge this week.
On Monday - New Year's Day - a 21-year-old woman was walking her dog, a young black Staffordshire bull terrier, near the clubhouse in Seven Kings Park at around 4pm.
In a savage act a man walking by then encouraged his rottweiler to attack the 21-year-old's animal.
In an attempt to protect her terrier, the woman then managed to get her body in between both dogs. As she did so the rottweiler bit her on the right leg.
The woman then saw the man leaving the park and heading off down Meads Lane.
The man's dog is known as Rocky and the owner is Asian.
In the first attack, Mr Bloom's attackers' owner is around 58-years-old, 6ft 1ins tall with grey hair.
Anyone with information on either the Woodford Green or Seven Kings Park attacks, or anyone who has any information about the dogs or the owners, should call Ilford police on 8345 2790.
