Dog attacks health worker
News | Published on Friday December 29, 2006
A local health department worker was reportedly bitten by a dog as she got out of her car at a residence on Brushy Road Thursday morning.

Tammie Brooks of Mount Pleasant told Deputy Michael Thatch she was getting out of her car at the Jeremy D. Traw residence at 487 Brushy Road when the attack occurred.

Thatch said he was dispatched to White River Medical Center to talk with Brooks about the incident, which occurred around 10:15 a.m.

“I spoke with Mrs. Brooks and she said she was attacked by a brown and tan Bassett hound which knocked her down and bit her on the left hand and on both legs,” Thatch said. “Mrs. Brooks had puncture wounds on her left hand and multiple wounds on her legs.”

Thatch said he contacted the owner of the dog, who took the animal to a veterinarian clinic to be quarantined and later put to sleep.

“Mr. Traw said the dog is normally kept in a pen, but had gotten out when the attack occurred,” Thatch said.

Brooks was treated for her wounds and released from the emergency room.

Kept in a pen huh? I guess he was undersocialized. Shows how even breeds normally thought to be docile can become dangerous!

Some will probably try to say he was bred to rip animals to shreds. The hound group will be getting attacked in no time!

The woman must be confused - clearly, it was a pitbull with dwarfism. Hounds don't bite.;)
