That's terrible, but the cop was there to check on a dog who'd bitten hard enough to send someone to the ER on Christmas, so I think it was understandable. Though you'd think that the cop would have just left the yard and called the people from his car, avoided the whole man-dog confrontation, since it wasn't a terribly pressing thing he'd gone there to do.
