Hi there, this is a great site youve got here. Ive basically joined because we are having problems with our golden retriever. This morning my dad went downstairs to find the lyno in the dog house dug up yet again. Its twice now shes done it and my parents are really getting sick of it. :( Shes a great dog, Quite shy though. hopefully someone will be able to help me with her problems! Shes just turned a year old so yes she will be mischievous (sp?) and we know Golden Retrievers love to dig. We were just hoping not in our floors! thanks,
Adam
ps below is a picture of her and her name is Willow!

What an innocent looking dog Willow is!! Funny how looks can be sooooo deceptive!!!! Sorry to hear about the digging!! If you post a thread in the training section Creature Teacher or someone esle equally knowledgeable will pick it up and tell you the best way to deal with your problem!!
Welcome anyway Adam and Willow! There are lots of Golden fans on this site so you'll fit right in!! :D

Welcome Adam and Willow. I know the feeling about the linoleum. My problem was that Max actually dug it up in our kitchen. I decided to put in peel and stick squares so if I had to fix it, all I had to do was replace a square. All my dogs seem to like scratching on it; I'm not sure what the attraction is but they did grow out of it.

Your dog is GORGEOUS!!!
I have a retriever/Chow mix. She's nearly 2 now, and she's still a (very loveable I have to add!) pain!!

Hi Adam..!!! I don't dare show my golden (Chip) Willow's picture !! She's beautiful !! I've never had a digging problem with any of my goldens ( none inside,,,outside minimal ) It may be a boredom thing...is it in a room to which she'd confined ?? Is it along the edges ?? At a doorway ?? I didn't understand the "doghouse". Maybe if it's a small area, she's just trying to make it softer. Give more info....

spray some bitter apple on the area. Willow will stay away from that.

thankyou all for your kind and helpful comments. We have bitter apple. Yesterday i did some gardening and created a pet cemetry area lol. Two years ago sophie, our 15 1/2 year old black lab had to be put to sleep, and there her ashes are buried. I had to spray the whole grave area with bitter apple so the dogs dont run off with the ornaments lol. We couldnt really spray the floor with it though as it is always being washed or getting wet by the dogs!? willow is a beauty, very timid though, and very scared of traffic, shes had so many walks around our town but still it hasnt really worked its just the way she is... ill post another pic..

When i say dog house, its like a big old fashioned conservatory, rectangle room with big glass windows.. Its not really a room youd sit in, its like where the dogs live and sleep but its joined on to our house!
