Hi
I am english living in northern spain- a small village near to Girona Catalunya.
My five year old ridgeback dog Leo has been missin for a month.
I suspect that he was abducted.
I,m asking for assistance on just about every web site I can find, plus doing all the on ground searching I am able.
I believe you guys are mainly US but if any one has contacts this part of the world could you ask?

thanks brian

Good luck finding Leo! Did you try Globalpaw.com as well? It's another forum like this one.

Hi Brian,

Have you posted on ideal.com forum - that is read by a lot of expats across Spain? The link is http://pub14.bravenet.com/forum/1156608858 . I'm based in Murcia communidad and there are a couple of animal shelters here - if he has been abducted I don't know where he would end up, but it is may be worth a try. I think I have the details and will dig them out and PM them to you. According to my Spanish friends this is a popular area for dumping dogs, no idea why. Also maybe worth putting an ad in some of the newspapers like Costa Blanca News, Costa Calida Informer? If you need details for those give me a shout. I wish you all the luck in the world, it is a horrible to thing to happen.

I woud put a lost dog add in your newspaper and another add in a shelter or pound near you if you have a shelter or pound.
And put lots of signs up everywhere.
I wish you GREAT LUCK!
In my prayers,
Amanda

Hi Brian

Very sorry to hear your news and Leo being missing :( A couple of ideas which you may have already thought of...

Was your dog microchipped? If so let the Policia Local and nearest Guardia know the details (& if you supect abduction rather than him getting lost, I'd explain that as well, and why), as well as all the charities and vets. If you have a picture of your dog it would be worth making posters and having them put up by the vets/charities and if possible stores and petrol (gas) stations in your area... and if you could, offer a cash reward for any info leading to a find... obviously in English and Spanish...

I'd go with Martine's ideas too - check out the papers, some have lost+found, Costa Blanca news is widely read...

And post on any expat boards too - a web search should bring them up.... although I think that 'on the ground' action is probably your best bet, especially if you're in a rural area.

Sorry I can't help any more (I'm not on Chaz too much at the moment, I'm in the UK right now but usually near Granada)... I wish you all the best in searching for your dog.
