He needs to go to the vet. It's possible that his intestine could be blocked, or the plastic could cause internal damage. Can you look around and figure out what he ate and how much? Has he pooped lately? Is he still drinking water? How often is he vomiting?

call information and ask for the number of the emergency vet then call a taxi and head on over!

There is no excuse to not get this dog to a vet ASAP.

1 hour and 30min. how much do u think it would be to get the plastic wrap thing out of him if he has more in his stomach?

PoodleMommy

I am not gonna lie, an ER visit and xrays alone is going to be expensive... however it is very important that it get done and the poor dog does not continue to suffer.

Frank,

How is the puppy now? Have you looked around? What do you think he has eaten? What kind of plastic - soft, hard, sharp edges, soft edges, do you have the bit he sicked up?

A 10 week old pup is very fragile. In the best of all circumstances, he has eaten a bit of soft plastic that has passed through him without damage. Otherwise, that pup really needs to get to a vet now. Can you call your dad and is there a neighbour who could take you? Otherwise ... who in your immediate neighbourhood has a pet? Can you call them and ask for an emergency vet number? I have heard that some vets may charge for this though my own does not - even for panicky calls in the middle of the night.

Watch him like a hawk . The poop would be normal because of the irritation and posable the meds your vet gave . Try to get water in him . Keep us up dated !

Take him back to the vet! The vomiting, and smelly poop could be Parvo. Have noticed any worms? When we 1st got our German Shepherd he was vomiting, and had extremely stong smelling watery poop, and the vets had us come in right away because they said it was signs of Parvo. The bubble wrap, and shredded papers may have already gone through him. Please let us know what happens!!!!!!!!!

frank87

Are there tests that can be done to determine whether or not it is Parvo before you put him to sleep? I would do that first and maybe talk to the vet and see if he can work something out with you if he won't maybe contact another vet because vets are animal people and they should be willing to help and if they aren't then I wouldn't bother with that vet in the future.

I'm really boiling here !!! Anyone who takes on a pup takes on the responsibility ! If the dog's suffering is an issue , yes PTS . If there's ANY chance of recovery .. this is what you bought !! Everyone getting a new dog or pup should have a $1000 fall back for their well being . I feel for you , but I feel more for your pup and many others that are brought into our world through no fault of their own and end up in the incinerator .

Alot of vets will bill you for mandatory treatment. You dont even know what it is yet, so I would advise not thinking about the option of putting your pup to down yet. It just could be an infection in his intestines. (sp?) I had something like this with West, two shots and some pills. It got worse shortly before it got better. But all it was was an infection.

Some dogs are cheap to "buy" but no dog is cheap to raise.

Talk to your vet about billing you, who says you gotta pay?

I know Im gonna get beaten for that but think about the pup.

Yes, they would...we know from past experience that not everyone thinks about their animals as passionately as we do. It sounds like this is a younger kid whose parents don't want to shell out the cash.

they bought a dog a few weeks ago and now they are going to put it to sleep? they should be put to sleep. Harsh or not I dont care... I am sick of people not caring about their pets. Dont get them if you can commit.

I am sorry but is this person a complete moron? Sorry but this is the most ridiculous post I have ever seen. This person(s) seem not to be able to think or take care of themselves much less another living thing. I hope that whatever vet they take this pup to can see through them and hopefully this pup will get a better life with someone else if they havent already waited too long to save him.

Sorry I am not in the business of babying people who dont care about their pets well being.

I gave helpful advice at the beginning you didnt want to take it.

Your still not caring for your dog... your dog is not going to survive on rice and chicken forever and you would know that if you took him to a vet.

I hope you are aware that you can't continue to feed just rice and chicken. It's okay for a while, but not balanced enough to feed as the sole diet long term!

frank87
12-06-2006, 02:47 PM
the vet said to feed him that for a week and then mix that with dry food till he gets used to dry food.

Shall we give this a little benefit of the doubt folks ? Let's see how this pans out . We're here for the poor pup aren't we.? Yes, we've been stung so many times and it hurts us when it's all in jest . Remember " Chicken Little " ?

Hey, now that the puppy is feeling better how about you tell us a bit more about him and send in a photograph? If I remember your very first post was about the puppy being sick so you'e never really introduced yourself or...whatever the little one's name is.

We all love puppy pics here!

Cripes I just read this thread. If this isn't a classic example of why people should be forced to take competency tests before being allowed to get a pet or a kid, I don't know what is.
