Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with brittanys and are they a good family pet?

Thanks!

My uncle has a Brittany he uses for hunting. VERY energetic dog! Always moving, always ready to go. Even when sleeping, this dog looks like he's ready to jump up at a moment's notice. He's also very smart, sweet and an awesome frisbee dog. He's also great with kids.

But I wouldn't recommend these dogs to anyone who's not ready to deal with an insane amount of energy. Like any high-energy dog, if you don't provide enough of an energy outlet, they can develop destructive habits and possibly other behavior issues.

oh pooey...I was afraid of that. We are an active family so we don't want a couch potato dog. I've read online that they are really great family pets and that they do become accustom to the owners lifestyle (to an extent of course).

I think you'd be ok as long as you provide a lot of interactive toys and playtime. A good-sized backyard and a frisbee would also help. :D
