I met a Presa while I was walking Missy, my German Shepherd. I asked the woman what breed of dog she was walking, and she confirmed my belief that the big male dog was a Presa. I put Missy in a sit stay, poor thing wanted to play :p, and I asked if I could pet him. She said sure, and I did. Very cool dog! Then she said that they could meet if Missy was friendly, so we let them stiff, meet & greet and Missy bounced down into a play bow.
That's pretty typical of a meeting of any dog I meet when walking, if we get to actually meet like that. :D but, it was cool

I agree with planet molosser. Definately not a breed for beginners or many experts actually. I know trainers that said they would not feel good owning one. They are a beautiful dog though. Some day I will own one. When I am ready to.

What i find is they are really dogs that are one people dogs and the others in the household have to work at acceptance and make sure they dont fall under the rank of the dog meaning.
Alpha is one owner than the dog attempts to put itself on 2nd place
So the 2nd and 3rd in charge like wife or hubby or kids need to WORK with teh dogs to assure love and acceptance with that comes control.
Not a breed for a hubby or wife to get and to leave in the garage because the wife dont like the dog. They will pull rank on the wife is they sence the wife does not have a liking and or understanding of what makes them tick.
They are VERY strong and need obedience work the only breeder I trust in person is in Ohio. Her dogs are raised in home with twin boys and never gave me issues ... Others thank god have warned me that heh you are showing me woman but dont correct me again- which I did not.

Yup, I met one.
Wasn't a very good breed example though, as it was like a big cuddly teddy bear and was sooo sweet and submissive. LOL

I met quite a few when I lived in Switzerland and each one was really lovely. They are very good looking dogs. I think they suffered a lot of bad publicity after they mauled Diane Whipple in California.

The ones in that sad case were not purebreds they were mastiff crosses.
The one in the recent case in Florida is considered purebred.

The San Francisco dogs were Presa mixes that had been bred and raised specifically to guard drug labs and other places where all sorts of nefarious activities take place. The owners, if you will remember, were intimately connected with one of the more violent Aryan nation groups and had actually legally adopted a member who was an adult felon serving time for violent crimes.
