I just got a 6 week old yorkie-poo she is 15oz. Is it safe to give her a bath? She smells.

That would be a yorkshire poodle cross, right? It's not even "safe" for her to be away from her parents yet. Why do you have her at 6 weeks?
No, it's not safe to give her a bath. Look at the shampoo labels. Usually no pup under 12 weeks should be given a bath with any kind of shampoo or something that's supposed to make them smell better.

Juat wondering but why is it not safe???
Because we got Lizzie from the pound when she was a pup about 5 weeks old and she REALLY needed a bath!!!!

It is true that a dog should be with mother/littermates until at least 8 weeks, and hopefully even longer for tiny breeds. But.... If the pup is healthy and eating and drinking etc...... then I would consider bathing if need be. I would never use any flea shampoos, but a gentle shampoo with no flea deterents. If the pup has fleas.... a few drops of dawn dishwashing liquid will really kill some of them. I bathed a four week old orphaned kitten with dawn and it did nothing but help.
Make sure you keep puppy really warm after the bath and use dry, warm towels to keep her warm until she dries fully.
I think your best bet.... before a bath is get a health check from the vet. :)
Best Wishes,
Julie.

And I bet she did great after her bath.... A bath IMHO is not going to hurt a healthy puppy. And really it is needed if they are covered in feces. That is not healthy either.
I would deworm......bath.........schedule vet appointment. :)

I've just always followed the label instructions. No shampoo, flea shampoo, etc. until 12 weeks of age. Then again, I've always gotten our pups at either 8 1/2 weeks or 10 weeks of age and they were both kept in sanitary conditions. No fleas, no feces/urine, no "bad" smell...just smelled like puppy. :)

My pup is only three weeks old and already had his first bath. The shampoo I have doesn't have an age limit -- but it's all-natural and very gentle and safe. He's a singleton so I brought him to a friend's house to play with her pups and he needless to say he got a little muddy lol.
I agree with the others -- the pup is much too young to be away from it's littermates (assuming it had any).

I bathed my 7 week old collie per the vet's instructions. He was sold to me too early by a breeder and I didn't know any better. He had fleas and tapeworms and some matts in his hair. He was VERY smelly!! She gave my a gentle shampoo that helped with itching but wasn't a flea shampoo. I wrapped him in a warm towel afterward and he sle:) pt a long time. I think he felt better and he was no worse for the wear. GOOD LUCK!!

I wonder if the OP is coming back? She only made one post a couple weeks ago. But yes, I'd rather have a clean, sanitary pup than wait weeks. Just make sure to use a gentle shampoo that doesn't have a limit of age you can use it for.

Well, 6 weeks is already quite the right time to bathe a puppy..However, you just have to be careful in handling your puppy when having a bath..Be careful with its eyes, ears and nose..Just be sure to dry your puppy with a towel after bathing..
