I was, maybe, wondering if, possible, we could get RSS output (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/vboptions_group_external). I would really appreciate it. I would even be willing to write up HHOWTO's for the forum members on "How to never again miss a chazhound topic that matters to you" for Windows, OSX, Linux, and even using an online news aggregator.
I'd also be willing to help with code, if necessary, to enable advertising or remove actual content from the feeds and keep it limited to titles only.
The idea, basically, is that if we can get a list of new topics in a newsreader, we can then subscribe to a topic we care about to get e-mail notifications that more replies have come in regarding the topic.
More people checking more often might produce more clickthoughs :)

I have no idea what you're talking about, Demetrious . . . but I'll flag this to make sure Chaz sees it . . . :)

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it. And If we get RSS output enabled I'll gladly tell everyone all about it and how to use it to further feed everyones addiction to chaz ;)
The short and sweet of it though is "syndication." RSS feeds for the forum would allow us to get headlines through client programs (called newsreaders). The newsreaders would check in with the chaz RSS feeds occasionally and then show you a list of new (or possibly even updated) topics.
So we're sitting here doing whatever on our PC and "oh look 5 new topic on chazhounds... quick check... oh! Two look interesting. *click* now I'm on the chaz forums reading... gee I want to know any time someone posts a reply! so I'll subscribe to the thread and get e-mail alerts when someone posts something... which I guess means I'll keep coming back!"
Or someone leaves their PC on during the day with their DSL connection, and when they get home from work theres a nice neat list of new chaz topics waiting for them which were made since the last time they checked. skim through them, read the ones we want...
I think a lot of people would miss a lot less topics or posts that way. Even if someone is very thorough and never misses a topic... It'll take a lot less time this way :)

Demetrious, you did a fabulous job of explaining something that I just described to Chaz as being either Sanskrit or Linear A :D

Thank you very much :) As a busy person with little free time on his hands I greatly appreciate the ability to keep track of the topics that flow through here with a minimum of effort. I regularly dont look past the first page of bolded posts in the forums... And I rarely look past 2 forums. Perhaps my readership will expand (and perhaps others as well, once I write up some HOWTO's.) Also as a busy person I appreciate your taking time out to look into this for me.
Thanks!
