i just got my 12 week old bull terrier a week ago, if i try and put the leash on her and take her outside she just refuses to go anywhere. she'll just stand there and try and get away from the leash. anyone have any ideas?

You should slowly get her used to the idea of a leash...especially if she has never had one on before..
Maybe while you are inside you can put the leash on her and let her walk around with the leash on *without* you holding it for a while, then take her outside and try again...

I'd start indoors. First, put the leash on her and just let her drag it around the house. Get her used to the idea of wearing a leash.
Once she's used to the leash behind her, pick up the end. Don't try to guide her, just follow her around while holding the leash. If she doesn't want to move, just wait patiently until she gets going (in my experience, puppies can't stay still for very long!) and then follow her around. Once she's walking around without a problem, start guiding her. Encourage her to follow you by using some yummy treats.
For now, don't take her outside without her leash. When you're going outside, make a show of getting the leash and putting it on her. Once the leash is on, take her outside. You want her to learn that the leash means good things, and that she should be excited to see the leash.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your tread. I have the same problem. This will bump the tread up for more great ideas.

Are you using a collar or a harness? I have found that my dogs didnt want to walk with a harness when used to a collar with leash or the reversem, didnt want to walk with a collar attached to a leash when used to a harness.
It doesnt sound to me like your dog is used to anything yet, so I agree with the other posters, leave the leash on during other times so that the dog has a chance to get used to it, play with it, drag it, etc.
My dogs used to bite the leash at first, but stopped doing that shortly after getting used to it. But whatever you do, dont stop using it or the dog may get used to not having one and the older the dog gets, the harder it will be to break old habit.s
