We have had our 9 month old male (neutered) hound mix now for a few weeks (shelter dog). He has been getting progressively worse with nipping at us when he is excited. We say "ouch" and ignore him - but that does not seem to be working. Any ideas?

Try reinforcing your authority when he does nip you. He need to know you're boss, and you don't like being bitten.

when he nips. yell like it really does hurt. then get up and walk away. make it clear once the nipping starts. the game stops.
