I couldn't get Photobucket to work, so I tried Webshots.com.......here's puppy number one, my daughter named her "Chocolate Chip". She has a twin that my daughter named Bandit(she named all of the puppies, so some of their names you may think are a bit silly!). I will post some more pics later, running around like a chicken with my head cut off today between pups and cleaning house and running errands.......http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=552358320&ran=7761
Dang....I thought that would show a picture in my post, instead just a link to the picture. Sorry, still working out the bugs to try to get some pictures in here.

This one was taken a few days ago...........his name is Nick Jr., which my daughter named after our other adult dog Nicky(a chocolate lab). She calls the pup Nick Jr. also because of the magazine(there's a story behind most of the names that she has come up with!). This pup is the loudest and whiniest of the bunch, also the most aggressive eater.

Try dropshots.com I like it the best out of the hosts sites I've tried so far.

Thanks, Saje, I'll try Dropshots. All the photo sharing sites I've tried either won't let me upload more than one photo without getting error messages, or I can't put a photo in my post but just a link to it.
LabBreeder, the mom is half German Shepherd and half lab, and the dad is at least half lab(most of the puppies look like either black labs, chocolate labs, or German Shepherds). Some people may look down their nose at "mixed breeds", but they are some of the best dogs that I have ever had. On one occasion, a "mixed breed" dog pretty much saved my life.......but that's another story. These pups are getting cuter every day, and they are a HUGE amount of work, but they're worth it!

I may have mentioned before, I am going to keep one puppy. I can't decide which one.......the runt of the litter has stolen my heart, but I am afraid she might have health problems later on. It's hard to listen to your head vs. your heart where animals are concerned, though!
Sorry to repeat a picture of a pup when I still haven't shown the other 9 yet......but this was too cute. This is a picture of Nick Jr., who cries a lot. I finally have found that if I put her in a laundry basket with a blanket in it, she stops crying and falls asleep. When feeding time comes, I put her back in with her mom and siblings. She just prefers to be by herself, or with me and my daughter, for some reason. Even when she falls asleep in the box with her sibs, she is usually far off in a corner all by herself, far from the others. Go figure!
I have signed up with Dropshots, so I don't know if it will show a picture on here or a link.......

Glad the runt is the twinkle of your eye. Got to love a spot dog! I know i did with my whole heart.;)
hehehe your last pic is of one truly relaxed puppy:D Mary had one pup that would wander off by himself on a regular basis. He grew up to be the largest of the litter and didnt' have that tendency as a older dog. WE always had to search for GARG and hope he wasn't stuck somewhere ,he tended to get himself wedged between things too.

Nick Jr is one cute little pup...all laid back like that. :) How old are they now? N.J. looks to be about 2 weeks???Maybe? I like the little dipstick on the end of the tail. You can see they've got Lab in them but the white gives away the "mix" ;)
Very, very cute!!! Need more pics, definitely.

Nick Jr. is about a week and a half in the first pic(from a few posts ago), in the pic where she is on her back, she was three weeks and one day. I am still looking for homes for about 5 of them, but I have hope! It's not out of the question that I may end up keeping more than one! My husband uploaded two pictures at his work, these are from when the pups were about a week and a half old. The black one's name is Bob, and the brown one close to him is Ginger. The black and white one's name is Zsa Zsa(remember, my daughter thought these names up!), and the brown one's name is Jake. The black and white pup where all you can see is her head's name is Patches. I will post more pics later on today or tomorrow!

I took two pictures of my proud mama dog, one weeks ago and one today. In the first pic, it looks like she is cradling her newborn. In the second one, she is laying beside laundry basket-loving Nick Jr. This silly pup will cry and cry, and the minute I put her in her laundry basket next to me, she will fall asleep! Go figure!

Aww, very cute...
she seems like a good mom, just very tired...11 puppies is a lot for a dog.
Im sure she loves them all very much and will miss them when they go.

Question ??? Why are the pups not in whelping pen with Mom ? When all are together there shouldn't be any crying.

Awww, they are so cute!! Can I have one?:p
Heatherew
07-21-2006, 10:52 AM
Buddy'sParents, you can definitely have one!
I don't know if I mentioned this before, but the mom dog does not spend very much time in the whelping box. She is just overwhelmed and doesn't know what she's doing, I guess. I have to coerce her to go in there and feed them when it's feeding time. And when they are all in there together IS when Nick Jr. cries. When I pick her up or put her in my lap or in the laundry basket, she falls asleep. If you have kids, you'll know the same is true for babies.......my daughter screamed and cried a lot, and I had to try all kinds of things to soothe her too. What eventually worked was putting her next to the dishwasher while it was on, and the noise lulled her to sleep. So I have had experience with "difficult babies"!

I'm soo missing something lol Did you breed your bitch?
Heatherew
07-21-2006, 03:09 PM
SummerRiot, I didn't breed her on purpose, she had an oops litter. I didn't know she went through heat, and she broke down the dog door that leads outside. I have been castigated about it by 2 people on here already, believe me!!!! So we are just dealing with the situation day by day.
P.S. I met someone at the vet today that "might" want one of the puppies!

Here is a picture my husband took today.....don't you think that this black and white puppy is big for his age(4 weeks and 2 days old)? You can't see very much of his brother in the pic, but he is quite a bit bigger. Almost twice the size of the two runts of the litter(who I think are the cutest ones!). They are all actually asleep at the same time right now, I am going to get some rest while I can! :)

Cute pups! I wish you the best in finding homes for them.
The black and white does seem large for that age, but I haven't had as much experience with large breeds as with small. :)

I've got a 3 wk and 5 wk old pic of Gunner to compare. :)
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/LabBreeder7579/choc_edited.jpg3 weeks
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j102/LabBreeder7579/babypuppy.jpg5 weeks
I'd say your pup is close to the same size. They grow a whole lot in the first 6-8 months. If he's that big now, he'll be alot bigger as an adult. Gunner is 4 months old and weighs 54 lbs. Just to give you an idea.

labbreeder i love your pics especially the last one but i would lose those rusty tomato cages. That is an accident just waiting to happen. That is if the puppies are around those where they could push each other into the sharp ends..I hate to see someone lose an eye.
Heather that is a bruiser of a big pup! CAn't wait to see the pics of all as they grow.

Labbreeder, your puppies are beautiful! One of my pups is a chocolate lab mix, and he has the prettiest blue eyes like your dogs.
I have had bad luck with digital cameras, I took some pics with a "real" camera and will get the film back in a few days. Then I can finally put some pictures. They are getting big, fast!
Bubbatd, the bowl of dried food that was out was the momma dog's food, I just put the pup on the kitchen floor for a second because she was whining. Sometimes it calms them down if they can run around in the kitchen for a few minutes(and yes, I have a baby gate on there too!).:)\
Oh, and one more thing, my husband took the momma dog and some of the pups to the vet the other day to make sure everyone was OK, and the big black and white pup in the photo was one of them. The vet asked if he was TEN weeks old! He laughed and said, no, he'll only be 5 weeks old tomorrow! These dogs are going to be enormous!
