Well, tink is almost 16 weeks, and I'm still concerned about her fear of meeting new dogs. Today, she was snappy at a dog, fortunately the owner and i were smart enough to confer with each other before letting them together, she said her male had no patience for nonsense, esp. puppies, and Tink proved she was full of nonsense...
And I know she's rapidly hitting that age where she gets no Puppy leeway anymore....
Anyway, I have Tink socialized with 8 other dogs from various households... and once she gets to know them , she's always happy to see them after the first meeting. So my question is, is it asking too much of a dog to learn how to NOT be fearful and ugly when meeting a new dog? i hate to take her to the park,or petco, b/c I'm worried about how she'll behave-but then, I know there's no other way to work it out...
Should I be happy she's getting better? Or do i have reason to expect that with the right training, she'll learn how to greet nicely?
I am looking into class options here, but I need to make the right choice, so she can get socialized without causing chaos...

I do not expect my dogs to socialize with dogs they do not know.

It is enough for me that they behave on leash. It is a bit much for some dogs to ask them to be friendly with dogs who are not a part of the dog family.

redyre...you seem to know a lot about dogs... should I expect her to sit quietly near me? as of right now, you know most dogs run up and sniff, this freaks her,and she starts yowling-which gets wosre if i do nothing- when I can keep her walking ,and distracted, it's usually ok, but like yesterday, I was standing still, then the problem-
I could easily pick her up, she's tiny, but i fear this would just make her worse,so I don't- perhaps I should just resign myself to a lifetime of picking her up if i can't keep her moving?
If she made friends with the 8 dogs I mentioned, will social classes help any? She gets a lot of socialization time, I bring her to camp daily to pick up the kids, where she gets lots of people time, and as much as possible in a walking situation near other dogs... do some some dogs just never get friendly?
