Kovi got 5 baby teeth pulled today. She was fine all day and they gave us instructions to feed her about 1/4 of what was normal. Since she is only 11 lbs I gave her less than a handful of dry dog food and some water. She just woke me up (it's 2am here) with the worst mess . . . she had good pooh in her crate (poor thing couldn't help it) and it was really loose, obviously her stomach is upset from the anesthesia . . .
What can I do to help her? She's whining (which is not her usual). How much Pepto can I give her? Any other suggestions? Don't know if anyone is around, but any help would be appreciated!!

I was told that diarhea is the body trying to get rid of something and it's not good to stop it. However, I've given mine the children's dose of pepto or immodium AD. Mine are 70 lbs and 30+ lbs so you may want to give the lowest dose possible, if that's what you choose to do.
Also, as long as the stomach is upset, give her cooked rice (plain) and possibly some boiled turkey or skinless chicken (after she's kept the rice down for a day or two). Also, keep her hydrated. If she won't drink water then give her pedialyte. You may want to let her stomach settle before giving her food again...even the rice...wait 12 hours until she doesn't have the runs any more but keep her hydrated.
If you think it's anything besides the anesthesia or the vet said there could be side effects from mixing pepto or immodium and having the anesthesia still in her system...ask the vet what to do first.
I gave immodium, rice and turkey (after 2 days no food), plenty of water and pedialyte. It turned out she had a hookworm egg (in other words, hookworms were present) and we got dewormer. But before I knew that, the other stuff was working to keep her hydrated and stuff before the vet gave us the dewormer and said to feed her rice.

Thanks! I haven't given her any Pepto and she seems a little better so I don't think I'm going to. I'll definitely be going with a bland diet for a couple of days though.
I don't think there's anything else going on besides the anesthesia, but I completely agree that it is likely not best to start mixing medications with any possible side effects of the anesthesia.
Thanks again!

you're welcome! :)
I know how it feels to have one with diarrhea...definitely NOT fun, that's for sure!
If she's not better by tomorrow, give the vet a buzz.
