Interceptor????

Hey everyone! I just took Nahnuk in to get a check up and his first shots today. Everything went great.:D My question is about a product called Interceptor. It is a pill that is given once a month to prevent worms. My vet recomended it andI was wondering if any of you use it or have heard anything about it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My vet also suggested that my dogs be on it, and they are. I've had no problems with it, no side effects and they take it easily, and it does what its supposed to.
It's supposed to protect against several kinds of worms, including heartworm. Its good if they've previously had the worm, are more suseptable, or are at risk of getting it. The vet wanted mine on it because there's a risk some of my foster / rescue dogs can carry the parasites

I use it, and my dogs act like it's a real treat. I like it for the heartworm protection, yet it kills most other worms too. :) :)

sorry, we use Iverhart. Interceptor is good though, we used it before we moved.

i'd definitely use it. heartworm is one of those things that's not that hard to prevent but miserable to treat. it's nice that it treats several intestinal worms, too, but heartworm's the scariest.

i have used interceptor and heartgard. i don't have a strong preference either way.

I use Interceptor because it has a different chemical makeup than Heartguard and is safer for Aussies and other collie types. Actually, I think it has a greater safety record all the way around with most breeds.

My dogs take it like it's a treat, so that's awesome!

Thanks everyone for the info. Also does Interceptor have a flea inhibitor? A friend of mine recomended Sintinel because it has a flea inhibitor, but it cost twice as much. I don't want to pay double if I don't need to.

Interceptor has nothing for fleas in it. Sentinel has Interceptor in it, plus a chemical or molecule called fipronil that sterilizes fleas from being able to reproduce. That's the reason for the cost difference.
Frontline is good for fleas though!

Yeah, I use Interceptor and then Advantage for fleas. I would recommend both products.

No problem Lawdog. I have to sit through seminars for these things. LOL Frontline is just one of the many products available for fleas. You can basically just choose your own with that. Just be sure that your pet is always on heartworm/intestinal worm preventive.
