hacking cough

My dog coughs a couple of times and ends it with a dry hacking sound. This only happens when he gets excited or moves around a lot. He doesn't seem to do this when he is outside. He eats and drinks normally though and has fun like a usual dog. This cough is off and on throughout the day and has been going on for about a week. Does anyone know what this is and is there anyway to get rid of it or do I have to take him to the vet.

If you look down a couple posts, I posted about the same thing just yesterday (or maybe the day before).

I'm not quite sure what to do about it either. I'm giving Buddy some time and if he's not better I am taking him to the vet this weekend.

And, as SummerRiot asked me, do you know if it could be kennel cough?

Well it says kennel cough is contagious but I have another dog living in the same conditions with the other and he hasn't gotten it. The symptoms match kennel cough exactly but im just not sure.

Hmm, I would ask your vet. I'm sure it's not kennel cough for Buddy and kennel cough is highly contagious, every dog at the dog park would have it if he did.
