For a few days now (maybe a little less) Buddy has been hacking as if he has something caught in his throat. Is there something I can give him or try to get rid of the hacking? Of course, I don't see anything and he's acting completely normal...

uh oh.. it sounds like he may have caught Kennel Cough!
its really nothing serious though.. it should go away in about a week or two. Its highly contagious and is caught from air borne particles from the other dogs.
Did he ever get a bordatella shot? I know dogs that have gotten this shot and still have gotten it.
I suggest a vet visit to see if it IS in fact Kennel Cough though.
here is a link for you..

Please keep him at home until you know for sure! :)

No, it's not kennel cough, sounds NOTHING like it at all. I'm sure of it.

Hmm if your sure, then he may have seasonal allergies?
he could have also been chewing on a stick and it scratched his throat??

I didn't think about the stick... is there anything I can give him, do you know?

Hmm is it like a hacking noise a cat makes for furballs? Or is it like a dry cough?

Hmmm.. check, if you can into his throat to see if there is a little scratch anywhere with a flashlight.. may require two people lol
Get him to drink some water, maybe chew on an icecube..?

He's done the ice cube and drinking water. I feel bad. I don't see anything, maybe he has something stuck in his throat?

hmm.. if its been a few days I wouldn't worry too too much about it.. does he yelp or anything if you put pressure on it slightly?

Nope, not a thing. He just hacks every so often...could it be allergies?

hmm.. if your 100% SURE its not kennel cough lol
then allergies or a scratch in his throat is the only thing that I can really think of??
Give your vet a call just to be on the safe side though! :)

Our little guy does that after he eats grass/sticks/etc. (he's a puppy--he tries to eat everything). I've found that a few good, firm pats on the back work wonders.
