View Full Version : - Friend's dog, any breed guesses?

This is my friend's 8 month old pup from the humane society, I'll be dog sitting her for 2 weeks and I was just wondering what your breed quesses for her might be? She's extremely, extremely active, incredibly smart, medium size (very light boned, 27lbs), semi-thick, double coat. Similar to that of a German Shepherd. She's absolutely beautiful in real life, these pics don't really do her justice. I love her...wish she was mine...lol. Anyway, I've spent tons of time with her and judjing by her personality and appearance I've come up with the following that I think she could be:
- GSD mix/Sheltie
- Border Collie/Jack Russell/GSD mix
- Belgian Malinois/Border Collie/JRT/mutt
Of course, we'll never know for certain but I think judging by her energy level and her tipped ears, she probably has some kind of herding breed in her (probably either Sheltie or BC, as both are quite popular over here). So, what do you think?

She is incredibly cute!
My first instinct was GSD/terrier, maybe a JRT or some other medium sized smooth coated terrier breed.

geez.. hmm
defiantely GSD.. she has the GSD eyes, and ear set plus ears .. if they stood up. Gsd jowls as well.
and I think your right about the terrier.. she stands like she has terrier in her..?

I agree, I see GSD clearly!
I the ears suggest sheltie, but not the coat. Probably terrier ;) its good guess anyway :p

I think she has a little Malinois in her..... adorable!!! kind of reminds me of my Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix though!¨

I honestly dont think she has Mal in her.. its definately more a GSD thing.
I could see wher eyout hought that though, I had sort of though about it as well because of her coat right?

She kinda looks like sadie would have as a pup. Sadie was a Mal/Staffy mix.

Yes, why? The HS she's from does that to all dogs who get spayed/neutered. Vets offices do it aswell around here, my Tango also has one.

I thought Mal because of her sleeker body and because of her coat. There's not really a high chance of her being a Mal mix though. I went to visit her today and she's a bit taller and sleeker than she was in those pics, now I'm thinking more along the lines of Whippet/Border Collie/GSD...who knows though. Just interesting to see what otehr peope think.

Thanks for all the guesses guys :) Krista, no, I'm sure I'd recognize Toller. She's isn't anything like one in looks or temperment and you don't see them running around over here.

I really don't see JRT in your friend's dog. I'd guess something like GSD (deff) and maybe Golden Retriever. My cousin has a Golden x (not sure what), but he has a similar body and colouring (minus the black) to your friend's dog.

Awww, so cute! Deffinatly GSD... Not sure what else.
GSD and possibly some sort of sighthound?
She looks like Jess's Chloe and Saje's Sakari. Cute little girl!
