I only have two more training classes with Missy until we graduate. I, for one, am excited and glad for it to be over because Missy and I are bored with the curriculum, and the trainer has been doing things with us that is more advanced than the rest of the class for a couple weeks now.
We got to talking, and naturally she wants me to put Missy in the advanced class, the final class that leads into testing for CGC. Then she said we'd probably enjoy it better if I entered her into her new trick class that is strickly fun and tricks, and skipped advanced unless I wanted Missy to have her CGC.

Here's my question, though: Missy's trainer wants me to enroll Maddie into advance classes, since she hasn't been in a class for almost 3yrs. I think Maddie would benifit from this, but I'm not sure on what I should do. I obviously can't enroll them both in the same class...

If I enroll Maddie in advance, and Missy in the Trick class I could alternatly teach them the other things at home as well.

Or do you think this trainer is doing a good job trying to get more business out of me??
:p

I think ultimately it is totally up to you. They are your dogs and it is your money. If you really want them to have more training than go for it, but don't let the trainer push you into something you don't really want. They are good at that. Somehow I once found myself in a potty training class with my puppy who was already potty trained! :p

*lol*
I think enrolling Missy in the advanced class would be pointless, because that'll be her 3rd class, and its all basically the same thing just longer stays and more distractions, which she's doing now (ahead of the class) anyway. I think it would be cute for her to continue the socailization and learn some tricks, maybe she'll be less intimidating to those that fear GSDs.

Maddie could probably use a few updates and a little work. It's a shortened, quicker pace class. I think I just might enroll them

 and I wonder why I don't have any money for myself, but the dogs are living like queens :p

I think that you should do what you want to do. The trick class would probably be a mind workout as well for Missy, she seems very smart! Do you plan on getting Missy her CGC? This might also help with people who have a fear of GSD's if you can tell them that she passed a test. Can you skip the advanced class and still take the CGC test?

Izzy and Frodo will forever be enrolled in some form of public class, even if it's just for socialization. I also think that it helps to bond with them and have some time with them and not have the other dogs around (especially with raising littermates). But then again, I get to take all of the classes for free :D .

I don't think I can skip the advance class and still test for CGC with this particular trainer, BUT I can always do it through another trainer / location. Maybe if the trainer relizes I'm serious enough to do this she'll let it slide.

Oo, good point.

I just don't want to sign them up, and then feel like its a waste of time and money :(
