I have recently started working with a 10 month old Pit Bull mix at our shelter. When she sees our shelter cat from a distance she growls softly. She stops immeadiatly when I correct her. However, if she gets close to the cat, she is fine with her. She is also fine with other cats and even kittens when she approaches them. It is like she can't recognize the cat unless she is close. Is this something I should be concerned about? Or will it just ease off as I work more with her (We've only been working together a few days). I know there are many excellent trainers, as well as many Pit lovers on here, so I thought I would ask.
