New trick!! Soooo funny

My husband and I had a bunch of errands to do yesterday, so we dropped our two shelties off at my parents house. They love to dogsit :) When I came by to pick them up last night, my dad had taught our adult female the best trick ever. She will be standing up like normal, but if you make your hand like a gun and point at her and say "bang!", she will immediately collapse onto the ground and roll over onto her side. Usually her tail is wagging at this point, but if you say "bang" again, she will be completely still and stick her tounge out!! It is the funniest thing ever! I'll try to get some pics of her doing it. She is such a drama queen :D

You know, you should teach her to also stand up, and put her hands up! As if she were being arrested. :p

Usually it takes longer for other dogs to learn, but my female is amazing. She will literally pick up words just by listening to our conversations. Sometimes it's not a good thing....I guess we will have to start spelling words now that we don't want her to pick up on. :)

Roxy learned that trick in a day. If your dog has a quick, solid down it doesn't take long at all, all you have to do is teach them that the gun combined with the word bang is the same as your signal for down. Its not hard at all.

The tongue hanging out is too cute! Did she just do that (as a drama queen) or did your dad teach it to her?
I taught my parents' English Cocker to play dead too, with the word 'bang' but she also learned to fall over when 'shot' with a 'silencer' (just the finger gun and no spoken command). I always threatened to go with my mom to her next conformation show and 'shoot' Lady while she was being examined by the judge... Never did though, cuz Mom threatened to really shoot me if I did... :D
