This is just sad! The dogs diet consisted of beer and doughnuts. She was so fat, she couldn't even walk.

Holy crap!

I wish Kansas was a strict on animal cruelty as Arizona is. I have dealt with dogs so fat they could double as coffee tables; their backs were flat enough to set a drink on.

Overfeeding a dog is cruel. It's not love to put your dog into pain.

Oh My Gawd...

Such a horrible thing to have happen to a dog!

Shelties are a known breed to get fat easily.. I imagine it wasn't hard to get her like that :(

It says the dog should weigh around 25lbs when Shelties should weigh less then that. Their weight is supposed to be proportionate to their height - Jada is about 14" tall and weighs around 16lbs, Crosbie is around 17" tall and he weighs around 24lbs - HES a slightly overweight Sheltie..

that poor thing!! Can you imagine what that did to her internal organs as well! All that strain to breath, all that strain to pump blood from her heart..
Ack..

just horrible.

I saw that on the news the other night. They had the dog in a sling around the belly so it could half way walk. They also showed it swimming in a pool to help take the weight off. Poor dog. It didn't even resemble a sheltie.

I know, I didn't realize that she was a sheltie right away. When I saw it on the news, I said to my boyfriend "That dog looks kinda like a sheltie." I thought she was a sheltie mix or something. I didn't even recognize that she was purebred until they stated it. :( I just really have to wonder what the owners were thinking.

I thought 25 pounds was pretty high also, Summer. Skye is pretty tall and big boned for a Sheltie and he only weighs 23 pounds.

Poor little thing, that's just cruel :(. It seems as though she'll get the help she needs now though.

Oh gosh. Some people should be shot.
Or just fed beer and donuts so that they eventually can't move! :D

Poor baby, people are so cruel!

poor sheltie, i wonder how long she's already in that condition .
how long would it take a dog to put on that much weight?
and will she ever be able to lose it all?
