hello all this site is great full of information. i just recently purchased a 4 month old 3 pound chiuauaha. her house training is going well, her name is CC
she has been spayed , all shots also. but i have to tell you she is scared of her own shadow. when i walk her to go to the bathroom shes fine, once she is finished, she tries to drag me back home. also when i play with her on the floor, she tries to stay as close to me as she can, she will not run after the ball, very rare times that she does and i praise her when she does that. any advice on my problem will be sooo helpful god bless mary................:)

Welcome to the forum - i am not sure what to tell you about how to get CC to play with a ball. Maybe she'd be more interested in stuffed toys? A lot of dogs enjoy "killing" them repeatedly. Did she come from a shelter situation? She may take a while to relax and regain her confidence in the world.

I dont know how long you have had her, but she may just need more time to get used to her new surroundings, my dog was very scared of everything when we brought her home.

Just be careful not to "baby" her when she is acting scared. Just act like everything is fine and say "CC your fine" in a steady tone.

Obviously give her lots of love, just dont over coddle her when she is acting scared.

Good Luck and just give her time, it does take time to get used to new surrroundings.

Thanks for joining poochiegirl!
Your dog looks cute! (assuming she's the one in your avatar)
Just for future, it's not a good idea to buy puppies from a petstore. I'm sure you love her very much though :).
Welcome and enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum!

Pet stores are the worst places to purchase a dog - I'm sorry. They come from puppy mills (google them) and are not socialized at all, so you have quite a task ahead of you. I wish you the best of luck.
Just make sure you never baby her, and treat her like an actual dog (I know it's hard when you have a dog that tiny and cute! :p).

Also, when she drags you on the leash - stop walking. When she stops and waits for you, you can continue. Do this every time she pulls. I hope this helps. :)
