I'm not going to restart the debate on designer breeds, but keep in mind that 95% of breeders that breed cockapoo are just in for the money, and you might very well end up with a dog that has lots of health issues.
If you really want a cockapoo, I suggest adopting one from a shelter or a rescue, but if you really want one from a breeder, make sure both the parents have all testings done - hips, eyes etc.

I don't know any breeders in NJ, but if you're going to spend some money on a puppy and want to reduce the chances of a health problem down the line, here's something to consider.
There are genetic diseases common to some breeds of dog. The cockapoo, as a mix of cocker and poodle, is at particular risk for those diseases common to cockers and poodles.
For cockers:
cherry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, progressive retinal atrophy and hemophilia.
Cockers are also prone to ear infections and seborrhea (greasy, flaky skin
For poodles:
Addison's,Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (Bloat), Cushings, Epilepsy,
Hip Dysplasia, Hypothyroidism, Legg-Calve-Perthes, Patellar Luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, Sebaceous Adenitis (SA), Von Willebrand's disease
It's worth knowing this in advance. Some of these problems can be screened out of a breeding program (no good breeder will knowingly reproduce dogs with severe Hip Dysplasia, for example; a good breeder will be able to prove to you that their puppies' parents passed hip screening checks.
I would be particularly careful of eye and ear problems, as both breeds have a problem with progressive retinal atrophy, and Cockers are notorious for having ear problems.
I don't mean to scare you, just that you should get your money's worth when you buy a puppy from a breeder. Get a buyer's contract that they'll take the puppy back for any reason (something a reputable breeder will do) and that they'll refund your money if, for instance, the puppy has heartworm or something else that their care should have prevented.
Good luck with finding a dog! There are many NJ rescue groups which specialize in small dogs, so if you're interested in adoption, that's also an option.

y dont we just ask a mod to close this before the 5 page fights start.
I think we've known you on here long enough to know that you have plenty of common sense and will not choose just any breeder. I truly think (and hope) that she has done her research and really does want this kind of dog. (If you haven't, please do so, as with any other breed! :)) And I know many breeders who are very responsible and are breeding to improve the cockapoo, not to sell the cockapoo. Yes, many are indeed bybs (no doubt that is true), but I'm just saying that it isn't impossible to find a fantastic one.
Good luck!
You might want to check out these cockapoo clubs, they have breeder lists. :)

I agree
What happened to that pup is horrible. :( And cockapoos most certainly have many health risks from both relatives, I AM NOT saying that they don't, I'm sorry if you misunderstood. But, all breeds and mixes can have many health problems from birth, some a result of poor breeding, and some not. I can give you plenty of purebred, adorable golden retriever puppies on petfinder who have serious medical/behavioral problems due to poor breeding. I am just saying, if she decides she would like a pup from a breeder, we shouldn't have to give a lecture on mixed breeds and should respect her decision if she understands them and gets her pup from a breeder who wants to IMPROVE the cockapoo, even if we have differing opinions. :)

Sorry MK&C, my post was directed towards the OP. :p I was posting the "Cockapoo" puppy, as a reference to the OP's signature which encourages adopting homeless animals in shelters. Charlie is one of the many Poodle mix puppies in shelters, healthy & unhealthy.
My Aunt & my Grandmother seperately got Cockapoo puppies from rescue. I just find it mildly ironic that some one pushing Petfinder is asking for links to Cockapoo breeders in NJ!!! Sorry, I don't know the OP at all, so I can't judge them. However, I don't agree with buying any mixed breed puppy and supporting mix breeders, EVER. Whether it's a hobby breeder or a pet store breeder, the underlined fact is that the parents of their puppies cannot possibly be shown - and the breeder cannot possibly be in approval of the AKC - because the AKC and any respectable club is horrified by intentional mixed breeding. I have no problem with people buying from a reputable breeder, but the OP could search the world over and never, ever find a single truly reputable Cockapoo breeder. That's just IMO! And the explanation for my post. I know there are plenty of these discussions here, but it's still my opinion.

There's no such thing as a good cockapoo breeder. There are mutt dog breeders instead.

i agree with ihartgonzo and rottn. any person that intentionally mixes breeds to sell is not breeding to improve anything...they're breeding mutts to sell.

Those puppies really are precious!
However, I would not consider owning 30 adult dogs and having 20 8 week-old puppies available at any one time as a reputable breeder =(... unless they have dozens of people there, no one can properly care for/socialize/exercise 50 dogs every single day!

Cute puppies or not, that site was awful. :( Puppymill all the way.
I agree that no reputable breeder would breed mix breeds. If you want a cockerspaniel/poodle mix look for one in a shelter. There are plenty that have been thrown away, by heartless owners and evil breeders, just waiting for some love.

Wow. They have a bunch of dogs there. There is no way that all of them are getting individual attention :(

Sorry...I myself wouldn't classify them as a responsible breeder. I mean, did you see all of those dogs?? Wow......:/

Cockapoos have been bred since before the 1970's. Just recently have they become very famous with the new designer dog craze, resulting in them being horribly over-bred, so yes, there are breeders who are out there who are trying to improve it to what it once was. :/

cockapoos are still mixed breeds no matter how long they've been doing it.

Wow.. you just took the words out of my mouth!! lol
a "cockapoo" is not a "breed".. it is a MUTT... so technically there are no breeders for it. Just people who like to bend the rules...
and good god honey.. that "breeder" has 9 live litters going..
NO sane and reputable breeder would EVER do that.. I wonder how they pay the vet bills.. IF any.

I will never understand WHY people would rather pay LOTS of money for a mixed breed than go and adopt one from a shelter :( . I mean it doesn't take a genius to know that there are plenty of POODLE mixes there with all these new designer mutts being added to the list of the unwanted dog population. I have even seen those $1200 dollar puggles on petfinder. UGH! Don't take me wrong I love ALL dogs but years ago we called mixes MUTTS not doodles and uggles!

No way could that " breeder " do well by the pups. Even a litter of 12 took ALL my time.

supose you wanted a dog for a certain perpose, like a dog perfect for a certain sport or something. do you think it would be ok to try and breed a dog to fit the critera. that way you would have something to work to. of corse you would have to reaserch stuff like what the dog should be like ex.. is that so bad?
