It’s actually for picking up color that you've already used. Lets say you're working on a drawing and you want to reuse a color and you're not precisely sure what color it was, you then take the dropper click it over the exciting color and it will give you the same color to work with.

i dont know how to save it..so i hope she sees it before it is toast..anyway i had to quit. It is frustrating not to have more tools. i am used to a bit more;)i never did figure out how to access a lot on paint pro and haven't found a tutor.so i draw with the mouse in pixels. You get a lot more control that way.There is a lot of really good stuff on the drawball thing. I want to figure out how to join in.

Press print screen on the keyboard, and open it up in paint. Crop it and upload it like a regular pic.

it doens't matter about the insult, it matters that someone is ruining it for everyone..and i am watching to find out ..and will see if it is possible to track the person. Who ever it is needs to seriously grow up. That kind of behavior, ruining other people's drawings, erasing, insulting shows a great need for a therapist. Who ever it is has issues and is doing no one any good at all especially themselves. I can always draw someplace else, but i like leaving something for Grammy to add too..or coloring in one that has been left on the board over night and is still there in the morning..i love working a piece together like babyblues and poodlemom both did. If all someone knows how to do is be a pain then i hope that they know life is full of kharma and it will find you sooner or later. I personally hope quite soon so maybe you will learn your lesson and develop a better personality and take that on in life.

I agree Smkie.... it really pains me to see someone deliberately mess someone's up. I have no perspective , but love to add flowers, grass etc. We can cover over the insults but not wild scrolls. I pitty the poor soul who is so young / troubled and hateful.

I have way better things to do. You really can't blend ... just find a color in between.I'm a dork at it !!! My first time I hit the erase and felt terrible.!! Did you know you can bring in the " dropper" and pick up the color you want on the screen ?? Any questions ask Smkie !!!

i just use the big ball to work out my outline..then work dark to light, i have never used the dropper so i dunno..straight lines are the hardest:D i finally found the right hand motion to make a good straight line.. it took awhile to learn to draw with a mouse. ;) here is kinda an example of what i mean

grammy i have had more then a running start..for 15 years i drew only with a pencil or pen and ink. It was all i could afford, i loved color but art supplies are so expensive, so i really learned to draw, if all you work in is pencil sigh

then i worked in etched glass design where i had to think very graphic, two tone to make my images work.

3 and a half years at the Kansas City ART Institute working on my illustration and design degree didn't hurt a bit either;)

then photo retouching / portrait artist meant i learned to match my colors fast and what lightened and darkened what..(the hard part to learn) because i did it 12 hours a day for a year. 6 am to 6 pm

after that began the bells, boxes, rocks that allowed me to work on my painting strengths..(still working on that...sigh...)

finally i felt ready for canvas

my favorite qoute is "the life so short the craft so long to learn"

its sooooo true

working like this is yahoooo fun hehe...you dont have to mix paint to get the right color, and thinking graphically makes working with as few of colors as possible (but using the very rightest ones :) ) a total blast for me. I can make an image in minutes that with paint would take me oh sooooo much longer, then all the blending:eek:

what is hard is going back to the grindstone and not sitting here having fun:D

I did Smkie.... thanks. I did some flowers, a blue bird nest in the tree and a wishing well and was working on a path until someone undid your clouds and most of your tree ... so I eraced all. Sorry, but it was beyond fixing .

Gah. Why do parts of what I draw disappearing? Infuriating! My little ripleydoodle is ruined because the eyes turned all whiteish. :(

Ahh. Grrr, that sucks. Ah well, guess I can't do anything very detailed. I'm used to doodling on photoshop where I can add thousands of layers and it doesn't even slow down, lol!

Anyway, here's a very quick doodle of a Border Collie. Because I'm bored and procrastinating. I know the eyes in particular really suck, I've never been good at them.

YOur portrait is awesome! Using only a few layers is frustrating but it gets easier. I thought u did a grand job and captured your dog nicely.:)

space em out a tinybit more and round em off, use your darkest color fur around them then lighten the bottom half of the iris where the sun would natural highlight the brown using a darker brown above where the brow would shadow. Flecks of yellow brown would draw even more attention and a light light blue will always look whiter then white for a highlight.pop a little dark red into the pupil and it will add life. something i learned when i saw my mom come out of her bedroom and i just saw that the pupil was in fact not black but deep red in part. i tried it on my next painting and it made all the difference in the world. Been doing that ever since:D .just some suggestions, probably more info then anyone wanted to know:rolleyes:

Anytime! Glad to be of service:D Seemed such a shame my kids had no interest for there was sooooo much i could have shared along the way. I spent alot of time figuring that out through trial and error. I spend most of my time on the eyes before i do anything else when i paint an animal or draw a person. IF they are not right it just never clicks for me. I was suprised when i saw my art teacher did the eyes last. He was showing us a piece on a alligator that was near completion and had only the eyes left to work out. If i am going to screw up the most important part it sure isn't going to be after i have worked the rest over:rolleyes:

That's actually a good way to go, I should start doing eyes first. I tend to do them as I go along, but really the eyes tend to make the painting if you're doing animals.. definitely would be easier to do them first and it'd be less painful to scrap the painting if they did turn out bad. A few days ago I was working on a cat with oil pastels (by far my worst media.. I just can't control them!) and it was looking sooo good until I started on - and screwed up - the eyes. I spent hours on it but scrapped it anyway. >_<

I wish I lived closer to you! I'd love to learn from you.. my mother has always been very artistic but she can't explain how she does things, so I've just had to learn from my own mistakes. I'd love to take a class sometime... drawing is so calming to me, lol.

first i block out the animal giving me a good solid shape and i pay close attention to the outline. then with the next light shade i rough out my midtones and block in my eyes muzzle..etc. then hopefully if i can get it in three i am thrilled i will work my highlights. I had a little brown dog i did that i wish like all heck i could have saved or at least taken a photo for i would have used her as a logo. Then if it still looks unfinished i go back and darken or lighten in varying shades until it clicks. That is how i do it..
I alway try to put my background in first for it is a pain to go around something and fill it in. If i go too many layers the first ones i did vanish. Has been good for me in the long run for i have to use as few as possible giving it a nice gouche appearance.

i was thinking since this is happening more and more (rude people so suck) that we should do any work that we do alone on a different link and only use the main one when we want to do something together. That is what i have been doing anymore..if you go to the main site, and chose drawing you can have a link that is just yours and not open to the rest of the world then you can post it and no one can mess it up. THen if we wanted to make one together we can join up on the posted link. What do you think? Everytime i try to see what someone has done, it is screwd up by a scribble or some other mess.:mad:
