Ears

Just a thought.

The dogs all had their vet checks, certificates of health, etc at 8 weeks. I happened to be juggling puppies back and forth from the crate out in the truck and the room for their checks. I did not see the vet examine Daizy.

Her ears have always stunk. Putrid, foul stunk! I gave her a bath, cleaned them, no discharge, they look bright and shiney. She smells fine, but her ears stink! No of the others do.

IM WONDERING-What if her problem is all in her ears?? I know how bad her equalibrium can be thrown with a serious infection or maybe burst eardrums??
What are your opinions??Wouldnt that be something if that were all it was???

Im waiting on the vet to get back from lunch.
I have ear antibiotic at home from Gary last month, but if its more serious then a plain infection-the vet needs to see her.

Opinions??Because her mind is 100%. Every CP human I have ever had to deal with (for 20 years) has had a mental disability as well related/caused from the CP, she DOES NOT!

I have always heard that if you have a inner ear infection that it can throw off your balance. I know it did my granfather, but I am not sure about animals but I dont see why it wouldnt be any different

My FIL had Meniere's disease .....maybe this could be part of her balance problems .....

Well, Daizy has an ear infection. Yeast. It was pretty sever~However, it is not the cause of her problem, but certainly makes her problem worse. When leared up we should notice an improvment, but she will never be "right". Definatly nuerological.

BUT~ Having said this, the vet assures me she will learn to compensate. We sat through 3 hours of "tests" and observation. For instance, when she walked, she stumbled and fell, smacking her jaw on the tile and hips. BUT, when the vets cat walked in the room, she followed him around the building with minor shakes. Or, when she eats, she twists in the middle and falls and hurts herself constantly, but when she drinks, she knows shes gonna end up in the water bowl, so she pecks at it gently drinking avoiding falling all together. When she itches, she aims properly, but when she digs, she lays on her side(the digging observed at home)
So, by learning in her own way how to "be careful" and focus, she is young enough to learn more as she grows.
He says the "motor skills-walking specific) part of her brain didnt develop, that's all and he has seen it before. It is not genetic, it is not palsy. He says he has high expectancies from her, and thinks she'll do judt fine with exercise and learning.

He also says it is at its worst, it cannot get worse, it cannot get better, it cannot be treated. We have to rely on her learning, as she grows and adapting to her weight.

If she gets to the point she can no longer walk because she is 20 or 30 lobs, she will be PTS:(

At least you're on the right road with her.....I know she'll be loved and cared for until she really has no quality of life . Enjoy and love her !
