Has anyone used this before on dogs? I am familiar with it and horses, just not dogs. My question is... my dog is 60lbs. and absolutely terrified of T storms. Anyone no how much to give her IM? I will not use it until I contact my vet tomorrow. Just curious about dog use. Someone told me it was good for T storms. Thanks

It's not very good for storm frightened dogs - takes too long to take effect (unless you do the IV route) and has a variable effect.
In most countries this is a scheduled drug that cannot be used, or kept, by anyone other than a Veterinarian - so I am somewhat surprised that you have access to it.
I wouldn't use it, I don't know what breed of dog you have but, collies, shelties and aussies (and some other herding breeds), CAN be sensitive to it.
My aussie tested mutant/mutant for the MDR1 gene, which is a sensitivity gene, m/m means she carries the gene, she would pass it on to offspring, and the most important here, normal doses of ace, bute, immodium ad (loperamide), ivermectin and host of other drugs could literally kill her.
Have you tried melatonin? I use it on my aussie who is also terrified of T storms, she weighs 50# (fat porker) and I give her 2 - 3 mg of melatonin and it really chills her out, isn't a cure, but it definately chills her out. Check with your vet tho

For T storms I would suggest asking about Diazpam. Some times vets like to use that along with a little Ace for fear. Works well for fire works too.
