hi i have a 1 year old irish red setter and recently whilst lying down he has started suddenly breathing really heavily and weirdly as if he couldnt breath for a second then he stops but does it around an hour later. im really worried as i dont know whats wrong with him have you got any ideas??????

Call your vet.
You say recent, how long is that? If it was today, call a vet hospital now. If it has been a couple weeks, likely you could make the appointment first thing in the morning.

Please take my advice and call your vet. Breathing difficulties can be life threatening. Without being there it is difficult to tell what the problem is, it could be anything from a viral syndrome to a blockage, from relatively harmless to dangerous. Diagnosing a breathing problem online is an invitation to disaster if the symptoms are recent and interfere with breathing..
