Dakota swims a lot, and I've noticed lately that the skin on his belly is really dry and kind of flaky. His skin on the rest of his body is fine, and his coat is in wonderful condition, but the bare skin on his belly seems to get dried out by the chlorine.

My question is - would it be okay to put moisturizer on my dog? Are there any specific lotions/moisturizers that would be best for dogs? I'm a bit leary of using my own lotions on him, just because of the scents and chemicals in them. If moisturizer isn't a good idea, what would you suggest? He doesn't seem to notice at all, but it's driving me nuts. :p

There are lots of moisturisers made specifically for dogs. :) I use two on my dog. I mix them into her bath water, but you can also spray them directly on the skin. You're lucky it's just his belly that's dry -- when Visa was on kibble and her skin was really bad, I actually had to part her fur and spray every inch of skin lol.
