I have a young (1-2?) Walker Foxhound that has apparently been dropped.
He is recovering from his food plight now, but when walking it looks like he is walking on eggs. Upon inspecting his feet I find at least one spot on a pad of each foot, that appears skinned, or burned? Any ideas what could cause this? His movement might explain his being dropped, as these dogs are quite popular here, but they are expected to perform. :( I'm trying to locate his home or find him a new one.

Where did you get him? Is it snowy where you live? If so, could be salt burns.

No, I'm in Kentucky. As a strange coincidence only 5 miles from the origin of the breed or sub-set what have you. That is a good call I would not have been aware of. He really is a sweet boy but two dogs and the occasional fostered one are all I can handle. For some reason my Lab turns his nose up at this one ( it's just like he treats cats, wary and kinda creeped out!).
I wish the whole spay-neuter thing carried more weight around here.

if he got dropped off out of a car, he may have tried to chase it down and if it was hot... the road could have burned his feet when he was running. You could try to take him to a vet and see if they can recommend some sort of non-toxic salve for his feet, and you could try wrapping them.

Poor baby !!! Lord, I wish they could talk ! I agree, he could have been dropped from a moving car.

you could put on it gal salve(used for cuts and scrapes, cinch burn etc on horses).
