car sick

my dog gets car sick , we go on car rides almost every weekend to my brothers house and she loves it there,and were going on an 5 hour car ride this weekend and i want to help her not get sick becuase i feel her pain.

How much does she weigh? For over the counter stuff you can use benedryl, but you should call your vet and ask how much for the weight of your dog.

Sometimes they helped and sometimes they didnt. I now go to the vet and get a perscription of a low dose of a tranquilizer for my dog to take before long car trips. You should just be able to run into your vet and ask for some, as long as you have the correct weight of your dog.

Ask your vet how much Dramamine to give her. Works wonders for my cousin's sheltie.

dramamine works well and so doe a little bit of a pepto bismol tablet

Do you crate the dog during the trip? Kalee's dog tends to get car sick when she's crated, but I've made her ride in the passenger side floorboard and once in the passenger seat in her crate (disassembled to make an open "bed") and just gave her plenty of fresh air and she did ok.

She also gets sick sometimes when she is not in the crate. Once she rode home w/o being in the crate and still got sick once, and she had had a half a benedryl. But she had doubled her weight since the vet told us half of one. so we gave her another half and she did fine the rest of the way. That was a little over halfway through the 4 hour trip
