I recently got a 5 week old boston terrier mix.
I think it is too early to begin potty training for two reasns:
#1 too young, just able to get around.
#2 too cold here in Indiana. 30 at night 40-50 during day.
Is this right?
When should I begin?

The breeder told me the mother stopped feeding.

Its not to early to start potty training...you can get the peepee pads from any pet store. Start showing her where to go if you catch her in the act. Just a "slight" stun, maybe a clap or something, while they are actually peeing (if you find it just clean it up) pick the pup up, and put it on the pad. Babies like that don't need a loud scary startle to stop the peeing.
When it gets a little bigger, start moving the pad closer to the door, and eventually outside. IMO letting the pup go anywhere without any direction might make it harder later on. I would also read some posts on here about having a puppy so young. A lot of the bite inhibition, socialization, and other things pup's learn from their litter mates and mom will not instilled into the puppy, Good Luck! And post a pic if you can, we do love puppy pics here.
