Hi all

I have an 18 month old Weimaraner, who is a rescue dog, called Cat. When I had him, at 6 months old, he was mental. No matter what excercise he had, he would run round like a maniac. We lived in a flat but he was walked every day. We then moved to a large house with a small garden (very small really), in January. Over the last couple of weeks, Cat has been very quiet. He is still constantly ready for fun, and as energetic on his walks as ever. But at home he is more happy to snuggle down than pester for attention. I put this down to him maturing into adulthood - but I am wondering - is it possible it is down to the fact he has larger living space? Cat is healthy etc, I was just wondering why he has become quieter.
Thanks
Rebecca

It's probably a combination of things. He is growing up and maturing into a responsible adult dog. Having more room also has something to do with it, I'm sure. He's got more room and feels less "closed in." He's probably also settling in his new home. After all, he's had many upheavals in his life. As a rescue dog at 6 months, he had to cope with losing the owners he had begun to bond with as a puppy - after leaving his mother and littermates. Now he's just getting settled in and feeling safe and secure, realizing that no matter how his environment changes, you won't.

It sounds like Cat is a fortunate dog to have an owner who is so responsive to his feelings. Be sure to post lots of photos of him. Weimaraners are so gorgeous.
