Hello guys
I was looking for some help about training my new puppy. He is 3 months old and his name is Blizzard and we have got the instructions for sit, down, paw, drop and roll over. We have also got fetch the toy/ball and bring it back weighed of.
I would now like to start trainning him to react to a whistle this is because i take him for mile long walks and often he runs on alot further, of course i make sure i'm not anywhere near a road however i would like to be able to whistle and he respond to me. I already have a whistle ready and tuned to a frequency he responds to because Mum and Dad got it for christmas for me. If anyone can help please talk to me!
Thanks alot
Matt:D

PS. What do people think about clickers!!!

hey there. well i've never used a whistle before but i have tried a cllicker before. it seemed to work pretty good but yoshi responds to me just making a clicking noise with my tongue as much as a clicker.

I would do a consistant " tune" ... like 3 short, one long etc. Start around the house and reward . This is a good " hide and seek " game too . slowly extend the distance. I had a " silent " whistle years ago and it worked well.

i am a huge fan of the whistle..it carries further then your voice could ever go. I even started my pups as soon as their ears opened..by waiting until they were just waking up and taking the whistle..blowing it once or twice standing right behind mom. they would crawl over for dinner and relate that with the whistle..worked like a charm. Things like what Grammy suggested are wonderful...just as long as the payoff is just the best thing in the world! Good for you! i have a whistle in my car and on in my desk drawer. If your dog ever gets loose and you cant see him your gonna be awful glad you taught him to come to the whistle.
