What's with my socks that makes them so much more interesting than his rope toy?

:D

Oh yeah, the fact that they have your smell on them, that they're on you and that they're not supposed to have it....all the more appealing than some silly toy of theirs. :p

I have been working with my puppy on the "leave it" command, and he is getting pretty good at leaving my socks/pant legs alone.

Because he's guaranteed a good game of tug'o'war, especially if you're wearing them. :D My kids are learning not to leave socks lying around. Quincy will sit there, look at the sock, look at the kid, back at the sock...... lunge, nab, and run like his tail's on fire.

He also loves to smell feet, preferable those fresh out of a winter boot. Kind of embarrassing when we have company! :D

My mom's Cairn used to neatly fold (only dark colored ones) up and carry them outside, then back in and put them in her bed. She never chewed them. Just 'took care of them'. We always thought she was 'raising' them. She knew the white ones didn't belong :)

Dog's are a kick when it comes to things you wish they'd leave alone!

Ok, good I thought my vicious little puppy was the only one who did that lol..she grabs the pants leg and tugs and i end up gently kicking her off me and telling her NO. Then she lunges back a few times at it, which I am guessing is normal puppy play. So I tell her no, thn I just ignore her. She loves to attack my feet and pant legs and shoes on my feet as well. This is normal for a 6 wk. old pup, right?

Very normal, and get ready b/c it only gets worse. I have recently introduced the "leave it" command to Bailey and that is what I use, he is actually pretty responsive to it and we're getting past the holes in my pants from him snagging them on his razor sharp teeth.

For pants tugging, try this. Have a treat in your hand. WHen the pup goes for shoelaces, socks, feet, pants legs, etc, MARCH!!

High step it, stamping your feet. Move in towards the puppy while you are doing this. Smile, laugh, and say in a nice praise tone... "GET BACK, GET BACK, GET BACK". When the pup gets into this NEW game, and moves back away from you, whip out the treat, put it on the puppy's nose, and help it to sit. As it sits, say SIT, and feed the treat.
