I was reading the other topic on Dog sledding and was going to post there, but it's pretty long and this is kind of with in itself. Any ways, I've always had an interest in Dog Sledding, and have always wanted to do it. My question has always been how do you train a dog for Sled Dog work? If you have any training advice, or good sites I can go to for equipment and training advice that would be awesome! Thanks
~Amy~
OCSpirit and Love4Pits are the two sledders off the top of my head. Love4Pits is rarely around now though but when she is she has great advice. :D A great breeder too :)

Hi i used to race & train my sibes & collies ,now i only run my young bitch sibe with my bike , to give her proper exercise. If i can help with anything please let me know arottmweilerY .where do u live? i started mine off by just letting them run in harness 2gether for a short distance with my rig ,then slowly increased the distance ,the max distance they have done is about 4 miles ,with 3 or 4 dogs. but they really enjoy the pulling & running.

I m a siberian husky owner and my s.husky girl
hate sledding. but she love to training to watchdog ,schutzhund
and security dog she loves to bite this schutz arm we training with.
she is very good girl. :) all s.huskys not love sledding and race. not my (purebred s.husky.
Sometimes it helps if a dog is not interested in sledding to tie them up next to the start off, when taking other dogs out for a run, the dog left behind(supervised) feels left out and eventually wants to join in, its surprising how many dogs start of not wanting to sled and then turn out to absolutely love it.

Wow, this really is an old thread, but, just in case anyone is still reading it, me and my dogs do sledding. Not pro, but just for work and fun.
