Here is the deal :o I know you all are probably going to wince when I tell you this. My 2 Goldens (Petals and Blossom) are very very different in nature. Anyway Petals was crate trained from day one. She absolutely loves her crate to this day :) Blossom (female not yet spayed has appt in January) had made it clear she does not "do crate" from day one. We kept trying to put her in the crate she proceeded to knock the tray out from the bottom and carry it across the floor at age 8weeks. Then we tried babygates and up and over those. Petals still doesn't jump over them because she fears them falling on her. So we settled for Blossom sleeping beside our bed until a few months ago when she was able to climb onto the bed. Now she sleeps with us.......Major No No. Anyway, for the past week, I have been working with Blossom on learning to "Do Crate." She has done quite well. I keep throwing treats in there with her and no praise when she comes out, only when she goes in. It as if she were in the crate the entire time. She has taken to it really well. Problem is that tonight we bowl and will be gone for about 4 hours. Blossom has only been in the crate for about an hour at most. Any suggestions??? Btw, my daughter will be home (teenager) we instructed her to stay out of the dogs' sights so they don't get upset. She can't take them out potty because they don't listen to her and we haven't put up a fence yet and we fear them running away from her.[/FONT]

Well, I guess you just see how it goes! Try to play hard with Blossom so she's worn out and will be happy to spend some quality nap time while you're gone.

And be prepared for the onslaught when you open her crate door. I'd definitely suggest letting Petals out first.

that doesn't make me wince at all. Sounds like you're doing a good job. There really isn't much I can think of for you to do. Wear her out like Renee said. I haven't crate trained, although I agree with it, but maybe give her toys. Perhaps put a blanket over the cage to fake night time? Not sure how that will go over.

Good luck

I don't know, sometimes I feel like if you don't harp on things too too much, proper behavior will come naturally, with some limits of course. Blossom may be seeing the rise her behavior is giving you and thinks its a game? You seem like you know what your doing, just keep at it, don't let it bother you so much. She's just being a dog :D More stubborn than your other dog, but still trainable.
