Alrighty, Riot is a great dog, going very well in training now.. only one thing.

When he gets caught up in his leash or gets something wrapped around him, he goes in psycho mode and tries his most to get that thing off of him by spinning, rolling, ducking, chewing.

I want this behaviour to STOP!

I was walking him downtown the other day, he stepped over his leash by accident, it got wrapped around his leg and then bum(somehow, hes quite talented at this lol) and he started to spin, and roll right onto the busy street. I can't pull him back because he freaks out even more!

I have to yell at him his "wait" command and then go and undo him.

Well.. the point is hes WAY too sensative to stuff like this.

Now when my horses were like that, I sacked them out..
Can you do that to dogs??

Absolutely, you can sack him out, just like breaking horses.

At home, where he's most comfortable, why not turn the leash into a toy. Make it a game. Don't worry about him biting or playing with the leash for now. When you say he freaks out, is he playing with the leash or does he appear bothered by it?

I'd wiggle that thing along the ground like a snake and make a fun game out of it. Make the leash his friend. Then after he's having fun (asuming he will, especially if you toss some treats into the mix) snake it across his paw, flick it against his ankle, just gradually get him use to it being around him. Take lots of time to condition him to it and make it a squeeky voice, fun, happy game with treats. LOL.

Then, once he's ok with it, take him for a walk in your yard. Reward him when he walks nicely and if he messes with the leash, tell him leave it. (assuming he's learned that very useful command) Praise and reward for nice walking. He needs to know there's a time for play and a time for walking nicely. Then "by accident" get the leash so it's kind of in his way or semi-tangled, loosely by his legs. Act like it's no big deal and calmly bend down and untangle him and resume walking. See how he does. If he is still freaking out, contain him close to you and have him sit. Practice having him sit whenever anything happens that's feeling out of control. If my dog is getting too wild or getting out of hand, all I have to do is tell him "sit" and it all stops right there. Anyhow, I think you can work through this.

Hes completely fine with the leash itself.. its when it gets all tangled up on him then he freaks out and wont stop until he injures himself or falls somewhere or i tell him to Wait(sometimes that doesn't work though)

I can't teach him to tug and stuff on the leash because of his confirmation training, he already gets really excited when we go for runs and jumps up and grabs the leash(or me, which ever is closer to him lol) He knows "off" now and stops when i tell him.

The sit idea is great!! I'll try and get him to do that!
It scared me so much when he was flipping around then ened up on a busy downtown street with heavy traffic.
