Dakota is always going out of his way to step on my feet (I'm pretty sure it's on purpose) and I am wondering how to go about getting him to stop.

As long as he does not have aggression issues....
Anytime he steps on your feet take his space by taking a step towards him so that he has to back up.

Umm alright. I'll see if it works.

It sounds like he just loves to be near you, and by stepping on your feet, he is pretty near.
opakki's advice should work, though I'd choose to counter attack this problem as well. Perhaps train him to do some kind of distance work? If he knows sit, increase distances that he must perform this behavior. Hopefully trainign distance work with tons of positive reinforcement will help him gain confidence even when he isn't directly near you.
Goodluck.

So you're saying I should teach him to never crowd me? I guess that would work. He has to be close to me to be able to put his paws on my feet. (He likes to sit on feet too, lol)
More info: Lol Dakota is so weird. You can be standing still together somewhere and he'll move over closer just to put his paw on your foot. What the HECK does this behavior mean? Anybody know?

Sounds like he's a velcro dog :) Mine are like that. They want to be touching if at all possible. Sometimes all it takes is a little verbal reassurance and a touch and they go back to their business, lol.
