I know that until the new puppy is older he will not be reliably housebroken so for now I do not let him have the run of the house.
The dogs had been outside playing for a while and I let them in and leashed Jake to my belt and sat down at the computer. I was really tired, and after a little while I put Jake to bed and went to sleep myself, and did not notice until this morning that he had left a big puddle right under my computer chair.

Also, he has been submissive peeing, when he comes out of his crate or whenever I leash him I ask him for a sit; he does sit but always leaves a few drops of urine. I know he was not in any way abused as a puppy at the breeder and of course I treat him well, why is he doing this?

Remember the rule? Get out that newspaper and THWACK yourself over the head a few times. Even if he's leashed to your belt, you still have to pay attention to him :D

He is dribbling urine to show you how much he respects and adores you. The best thing to do is ignore it. He will grow out of it.

Hang in there, and don't expect your puppy to be completely reliable in the house as far as elimination behaviors until at least 6 months old.
