hello, I need some help with my 3 year old male Labrador retriever. Before he didn't do it so often. Lately he does it at least once a day. I'm not sure what has gotten over him. I keep on telling him "no" while gently pushing him away/getting his paws off my waist.

What should I do? I'm thinking maybe I don't appear mad enough to him? Is this a dominance issue?

It is a dominance issue and a bad habit. Once dogs start doing it, it doesn't matter that much whether they are neutered, they will continue to do it for dominance.

Try do everything you can to make you the dominant one, make everything you before him and do not tolerate the humping. Scold him and then ignore him when he does it. Different methods work for different people. The most important thing is to not tolerate it or laugh at it, it will only provoke him more.

1) if the dog is not neutered, get that done.

2) take a refresher obedience course.

3) Take a proactive stance. Pay attention to the dog, and correct him the second he thinks about it. Don't wait until he is clasping you to correct him. Take his collar, put his front paws on the floor like you mean it, and tell him OFF in no uncertain terms with direct eye contact.

If you do this in the proper manner your dog should lower his head, roll his eyes, and lick out his tongue with his ears back.

When he demonstrates this appropriate respect, release him and ignore him for 5 minutes.

Repeat as necessary.
